What are ear candles?

Ear candles are a simple natural therapy that can also be used at home. The candle is placed in the opening of the ear canal, and the heat from the burning candle together with the slight air vibration inside improves blood circulation and can have a beneficial effect on the ear, nose and throat area. The treatment is above all a very relaxing experience that can relieve stress symptoms.

How are ear candles made?

The name "ear candle" can be misleading because it is not like a regular candle. It is hollow, has no wick, and is made of cotton linen dipped in a mixture of beeswax and mineral wax. The effect can be enhanced with essential oils, either by adding them to the wax mixture or by applying them to the inside of the candle.

What are ear candles good for?

Even if you do not have any health problems, ear candles can be used for relaxation and to facilitate the body's natural process of getting rid of ear wax. The gentle heat softens the wax so that it can be removed naturally within a few days. Ear candles can also be helpful for ear problems, respiratory problems, colds, or stress.

How long have ear candles been used?

According to some sources, their use dates back to ancient times. What is known for sure is that ear candles or ear cones made of leaves, herbs, bark or fabric have been used in folk medicine for centuries – and are still used by some Siberian tribes.

Organic ear candles

Naturhelix organic ear candles are made from organic beeswax and unbleached cotton linen from controlled suppliers. The natural color and honey scent come from the pure raw materials. The candles are handmade without additives or dyes.

Naturhelix ear candles for children

Children's candles are smaller, have a shorter burn time and are available in three scents (chamomile, eucalyptus, propolis). They are adapted for children's ears, but should only be used if the child can lie still and understands that the candle must not be touched during the treatment. Not for children under 3 years of age.

How long does a treatment take?

A treatment takes about 30–45 minutes. One candle burns for about 12 minutes per ear. We recommend finishing with a facial and ear massage and resting for a while.

Important instructions

Always treat both ears.

Follow the instructions carefully and remember fire safety.

Keep the ears dry and warm for 24 hours afterwards (avoid swimming, diving and drafts).

Children and ear candles
